McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac comes to Canada, an honest review

According to Narcity, McDonald’s took two years to churn out the Chicken Big Mac, I can easily hack this burger in under two minutes. It is just like a regular McDonald’s Big Mac without beef patties. The two chicken patties are thinner than a regular chicken patty. I honestly bit into this burger and tried to get a taste for chicken, I could barely taste a trace of chicken. I find that the components of the sandwich don’t necessarily work so well together. The verdict is in. Nothing to write home about here.

I do not see McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac taking off to be a mainstay on the regular menu. It is not that it is a terrible burger, I thought it would be better. The novelty chicken burger was available in the United Kingdom, United States, Egypt, and India in the past. That is why I am surprised that it took two years to develop the burger in Canada.

“The Big Mac sauce isn’t really complementing the chicken in the same way it would an actual beef patty.”

The new Chicken Big Mac features two patties made with 100% Canadian-raised seasoned chicken breast in a crispy, light-tasting coating, along with the much-loved special sauce, lettuce, processed cheddar cheese and pickles.

“The inspiration for swapping beef for chicken actually came from customers who have been “hacking” the Chicken Big Mac for years, as Anderson put it. They were either taking the crispy chicken out of another sandwich – say, the chicken snack wrap – and placing it in the Big Mac or in reverse, taking the special sauce and smearing it on a chicken sandwich.”-Jeff Anderson, McDonald’s senior manager of menu innovation in Toronto.

Fun Fact:  Esther Glickstein, a 21-year-old secretary for McDonald’s advertising department, first suggested calling the new burger Big Mac. She admitted that the higher-ups initially laughed the name off when she first suggested it, but she got the last laugh when the name stuck!
